As you gear up for back-to-school season OR you just really need a new tactic to help your child manage big feelings, I have a freebie for you!
These three printouts can help you create a fun and inviting area for your little one to retreat to when needed. My four year old loves to communicate and is also very strong-willed (hello, future leader!) so I wanted to have a space for him that he could feel in-control when ‘big feelings’ emerge. Especially with Pre-K on the horizon this month I am tapping in to ALL of the conscious parenting tactics! I hope this helps you too!
WHAT ARE THE PRINTOUTS?
Page 1: ‘I Feel’ for emotion identification
Page 2: ‘I Can’ includes techniques to encourage calm. Note I added something called a ‘balloon breath’ we love to do in our home! We inhale a huge breath and then pretend to blow up a really big balloon as we exhale. Make it fun by naming the shape or color of your balloon. i.e. ‘I am going to blow up a purple giraffe balloon the size of our house!’

WHAT I INCLUDED IN THE ‘CALM CORNER’
Laminated printouts
Comfy chair located near books
A couple of sensory items (sensory bottles and a ‘glitter’ squeeze toy I found in the Target Bullseye area, and a straw to breath through)
Simply drop your e-mail in the box below to grab your printout.
Don’t forget! Tag me on instagram if you make a ‘calm corner’ too! Wishing you a happy back-to-school season!
